Commitment on Gender Mainstreaming

Commitment 1

SODEC Nepal is fully committed to respecting and adhering to national and international instruments addressing gender issues. In the national context, the Government of Nepal (GoN) has established a media policy in 2068 B.S., which promotes inclusive media practices, prioritizes issues from a Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) perspective, and supports marginalized populations in gaining access to mainstream political participation.

Commitment 2

SODEC Nepal actively supports the integration of gender-sensitive approaches in all its initiatives. By aligning with Nepal’s media policy and international gender equality frameworks, SODEC ensures that its programs foster inclusivity, amplify marginalized voices, and promote equitable representation across all sectors of society.

Commitment 3

SODEC Nepal is aware that Interim Constitution 2063 has also adopted women right as fundamental right along with respecting the international laws like CEDAW, CRC, Beijing Platform and other international instruments. Moreover, Nepal has also formulated the pro-women and children related domestic laws to promote and preserve their rights like Domestic Violence (Crime and Punishment) Act, 2066 (2009). Similarly, 11th amendment of Civil Code has granted property right to women.
